Resources for Ingredients

These days, most grocery stores have an “ethnic foods” aisle; some more comprehensive than others. If you live in an area where Latin ingredients are scarce, or if you like to buy things in bulk, check out these places:Northgate Market Logo

Northgate Market – one of my favorite groceries stores because they’re full-service: excellent meat department, bakery, and tortilleria, a fantastic prepared foods section, and a huge selection of domestic and imported Latin American groceries. If you’re in Southern California, do yourself a favor and visit one of the 40 locations www.northgatemarkets.com

Amigo Foods – an online grocery store offering the freshest imported foods & drinks from all over Latin America and Spain. www.AmigoFoods.com

El Mercado Latino – if you live in the Seattle area, you can visit their brick-and-mortar store at Pike Place Market. For the rest of us, there’s www.latinmerchant.com

MexGrocer – a great resource for Mexican groceries, specialty items, and cookware.  www.mexgrocer.com

And of course, there’s always Amazon.com.
